After earning a college degree in just three and a half years, Lainey Braun is returning to her home town to teach special education at her alma mater.
Lainey Braun graduated from UW-Stevens Point on Dec. 16 with a degree in Special Education and Chancellor’s Leadership Award. On Jan. 21, she will become an official member of the teaching staff at Lincoln High School where she has served as an intern this fall. She loves to help special education students.
"Working with them means I am a teacher, counselor, nurse, mom and listening ear, all wrapped into one," she said in this UW-Stevens Point article. "This job is absolutely the best."
She was offered positions in other school districts but she wanted to work for Manitowoc Public Schools - the place where her high school advanced placement credits helped allow her to graduate from college a semester early. Braun's brother is a senior at LHS so she has had the chance to see and interact with him in school.
"I’m still getting used to calling my former teachers by their first names," she said.
Thanks Lainey for returning home and making a difference for our youth!
