Thadd Cornell, former head coach at Mishicot High School, was hired Wednesday to lead the Manitowoc Lincoln High boys’ basketball program. Cornell, who has more than 20 years experience as a head coach, replaces Brian Gallagher who resigned the position in April.
The Ships first game is November 25 against Two Rivers at 7 p.m. in the JFK Fieldhouse.
Cornell previously was the head coach at Shawano, Grafton and Boscobel High Schools. He will teach at Lincoln High School, starting in the 2017-18 school year.
"I believe with hard work, commitment and dedication we’ll get things going in the right direction sooner than anyone expects," Cornell said. "Manitowoc Lincoln has great tradition.
"The community has seen success and the administration is committed to attaining it. The facilities here to practice/compete, the locker rooms and the fitness center — it’s everything you could possibly need to make this program something special," Cornell said. "I look forward to meeting with the current players, coaches, and youth, so we can start working towards building a championship program."
