Students Earn International Baccalaureate Diplomas

MPSD-IB-2016.jpgFour Class of 2016 graduates earned full International Baccalaureate Diplomas, in a program offered only by Manitowoc Lincoln and 13 other schools statewide.

Thirty-five students took IB Diploma examinations this year, which can earn college credit. Ashley Delsman, Emma Dill, Avery Jessel and Kenley Smith, earned their full International Baccalaureate Diploma, which awards additional credit. The full diploma recipients are all headed this fall to attend universities such as the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, University of Wisconsin – Madison, and Marquette University.

The Manitowoc Public School District has offered the IB program since 2007. It aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically. The program is designed to give students a broad, well-rounded international education and the skills needed for success at university and beyond.

“Being a part of IB was one of the most challenging and rewarding things I've ever done, said Nicole Palama, a 2016 LHS IB graduate. "Everyday was a new adventure on how to learn and manage your time but each and everyday also prepared me for the real world. Now, sitting in my college classes I've never felt more able and ready to take on the challenge. IB has helped me tremendously in ways beyond scholastic measures, this program has helped me look at the world from different perspectives and encouraged me to take part in making the world a better place.” Read more here
