Paul (Biff) Hansen and Steven Kleinfeldt to Retire from MPSD

Two veteran educators and administrators at MPSD have announced they will retire at the end of the 2015-16 school year - Paul (Biff) Hansen and Steven Kleinfeldt.

Hansen, an alumnus of Lincoln High School and McKinley Elementary, served 38 years with the district, most recently as assistant principal at Lincoln High School. Other titles he has held include coach, teacher, band member, political junkie and most importantly and forever, special education advocate.

“Always kids in need,” Hansen said in an interview with Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter Ann Grote-Pirrung. “Always kids in need.” Read Grote-Pirrung's FULL STORY here.

Kleinfeldt retires after 26 years, having served as a local elementary school principal initially at Jefferson Elementary and currently at Jackson Elementary. Kleinfeldt moved to Manitowoc in 1990 after serving as a teacher and assistant principal in Illinois. He lead Jefferson through the construction of a new school in 1996 and three years later, transferred to Jackson Elementary where his children attended.

“It’s been fantastic, as far as I never imagined what it could be from the time I started to the time I ended," Kleinfeldt told the Herald Times Reporter. "Time went so quickly. I couldn’t ask for a more rewarding career.” Read more about Kleinfeldt in the HTR here and the educational and technological changes he saw in his 26 years.

The MPSD extends a warm thank you to both Hansen and Kleinfeldt for their dedication to our students, families and fellow staff. Best wishes on well-deserved retirements! #shipspride
